Nutrition support through perimenopause

Perimenopause is the time leading up to menopause when hormone levels change and periods become irregular. It often starts in your 40s and can last several years. Symptoms can include hot flushes, poor sleep, low mood, changes in body composition and joint aches.

Falling oestrogen affects bone density, muscle and heart health. Nutrition and activity can make a real difference to how you feel now and to your long-term health.

A dietitian helps you adapt your eating to these changes in a practical way, alongside any treatment such as HRT from your GP or menopause specialist.

Questions

Can diet help perimenopause symptoms?

Diet can help with energy, sleep and long-term health. Some symptoms, such as hot flushes, may need medical treatment, so speak to your GP.

Do I need supplements?

Most people benefit from a vitamin D supplement in autumn and winter, as advised for everyone in the UK. Other supplements depend on your diet and needs.

Why is my body shape changing?

Hormonal changes can affect where the body stores fat and how easily muscle is maintained. Protein, strength training and sleep can help.

Do you work alongside my GP?

Yes. With your consent, we coordinate with your GP or menopause specialist.

Are consultations online?

Yes. All consultations are by secure video, across the UK.
