Online sports dietitian for rowers and student-athletes in Oxford

Evidence-based sports nutrition for rowers, college athletes, runners and researchers who train in Oxford, backed by university sport and scholarship-athlete experience.

Rowing, college sport and academic pressure

Rowing is part of Oxford's identity, and the river is busy with crews for much of the year. Beyond the boathouses, college and university sport covers everything from rugby and hockey to athletics and cycling, and many students represent both their college and the university. Add tutorials, essays and research deadlines, and eating well can easily slip down the list.

We know this environment well. Jenaed Ruddock, who founded Nutrition & Co, holds Lead Sports Dietitian roles with Imperial College London and Cambridge University, while Tom Hill, our Sports & Performance Nutritionist, has supported TASS and university scholarship athletes. We are not connected to the University of Oxford or its colleges; private consultations are open to anyone.

Everything happens online, and you can join a session from your college room, lab or home. We revisit the plan when your timetable shifts, whether that is a heavy racing block, an exam season or a long vacation of training.

How we can help

Specialist support for collegiate, scholarship and endurance athletes in Oxford.

Rowing and ergometer training

Fuelling high-volume water and erg sessions, test pieces and racing, including the extra care needed in lightweight rowing.

  • Carbohydrate for heavy training weeks
  • Recovery after erg tests
  • Lightweight rowing without under-fuelling

College and university double duty

Joined-up planning for athletes who compete for both their college and the university, so total load is matched by enough food.

Scholarship and pathway athletes

Support for talented athletes combining a performance pathway with a degree, drawing on Tom Hill's work with TASS and university scholarship athletes.

Fuelling around tutorials and research

Quick, realistic meals and snacks for days dominated by reading lists, lab hours and late deadlines.

RED-S in endurance and rowing

Specialist assessment from our RED-S team for persistent fatigue, bone injuries, menstrual changes or performance that has stalled.

Frequently asked questions

Are you part of the University of Oxford's sport programme?

No. We have no connection with the University of Oxford or its colleges. Anyone can book a private online consultation with us, whether they are a student, a member of staff or a local athlete.

Do I need to come to an appointment in Oxford?

No. We only consult by video, and there are no premises to visit. Most clients join from home, college or work.

How do you support lightweight rowers?

Low energy availability is more common in weight-category sports, so our priority is fuelling training properly, avoiding rapid weight cuts and watching for warning signs. If anything concerns us, we talk it through with you and agree the safest way forward.

I am a scholarship athlete with a demanding degree. Where do we start?

We begin with your training programme, timetable, competition calendar and eating pattern, then pick a few priorities that will make the most difference. That might be breakfast before training, recovery food afterwards or snacks that last through a day in the library.

What does it cost?

Initial consultations are £159 for 60 minutes, and follow-ups are £89 for 45 minutes. If you need a written plan tailored to you, an individualised plan costs £75 where clinically indicated.
