Online sports nutrition for Brighton's swimmers, runners and riders
Sports nutrition for sea swimmers, seafront runners, Downs cyclists and triathletes in Brighton and across Sussex, delivered by secure video call.
Sea, seafront and South Downs
Brighton's sporting life is shaped by the coast. Runners use the long, flat seafront for tempo sessions and races, swimmers head into the sea through the year, and cyclists climb onto the South Downs for steep, exposed rides. It is a natural setting for triathlon, and the city's gyms, fitness studios and team sports add plenty of variety.
Cold water, wind off the sea and short, sharp climbs all change what your body needs. Cold-water swimming may increase energy needs and leave you hungry for hours, while Downs rides and long seafront runs call for carbohydrate planned in advance. We look at the conditions you train in, not only the sessions written in your plan.
Nutrition & Co works only online, so appointments happen wherever you have a screen and some privacy. Follow-ups keep the plan current from a winter of cold swims through to a summer of races.

Frequently asked questions
Where are your Brighton appointments held?
They are held online. We have no premises in Brighton or elsewhere, so every session is a secure video call you can join from any quiet space.
What should I eat after a cold sea swim?
Many swimmers feel very hungry after cold water and want something warm. We help you plan a drink and snack for straight afterwards and a proper meal later, so recovery is covered without relying on whatever happens to be to hand.
I am training for my first triathlon. Can you help?
Yes. We look at how your week fits together across swimming, cycling and running, check you are eating enough for the total load and put together a simple race plan. Trying it in training shows you what your stomach copes with.
My stomach plays up on long runs. Is that normal?
Gut symptoms during running are common, and there is often something that can be adjusted. We look at what and when you eat before and during runs, and whether a condition such as IBS may be involved, then make changes gradually.
Do you take private medical insurance?
Yes, for policies that include dietetic consultations. Bupa UK, AXA, Vitality, Aviva, WPA, Healix and Cigna UK are accepted subject to pre-authorisation, so confirm what your plan covers before you book.
