Online sports dietitian support across Cardiff and South Wales
Expert sports nutrition support for rugby players, footballers, cyclists and runners in Cardiff and across South Wales, delivered online by a team with NHS experience in Wales.
Rugby at the heart of Welsh sport
In Cardiff, rugby is more than a game. It is played and watched at every level, from junior sections and community clubs to the international stage, and it shapes the sporting calendar for much of the year. Football has a strong following too, and the valleys and coastline around the capital give cyclists, runners and triathletes plenty of demanding terrain.
Rugby asks a lot of the body: collisions, repeated sprints, heavy strength work and long seasons. Tom Hill, our Sports & Performance Nutritionist, brings experience from professional rugby union at Harlequins RFC and Coventry RFC, and our HCPC-registered dietitians bring specialist knowledge of RED-S, gut health and clinical nutrition. Our founder's NHS career also includes experience in Wales.
Consultations are online only. Whether you live in Cardiff, the valleys or further west, there is no journey to make, and we keep refining your plan as you move from pre-season conditioning into the heart of the season.
How we can help
Evidence-based support for contact, team and endurance sport in South Wales.
Rugby nutrition by position
Different fuelling and body composition priorities for front-row forwards, back-row players and backs, with recovery built in after contact.
- Pre-season size and conditioning
- Matchday and post-match eating
- Recovering from heavy contact weeks
Football at every level
Fuelling for training, games and recovery when football sits alongside work, study or a second sport.
Cycling the valleys
Food and fluid strategies for long climbs and hilly rides, where carbohydrate needs rise quickly.
Running and triathlon
Plans for road races, trail running and triathlon, with race fuelling tested on training days first.
RED-S and energy availability
Support from our RED-S specialists if fatigue, injury, menstrual changes or stalled progress suggest you may not be eating enough for your training.
Clinical nutrition in parallel
Beyond sport, our specialists also help online with IBS, eating disorders and disordered eating.

Frequently asked questions
Do you have a practice in Cardiff?
No. We are an online-only service, and all of our consultations take place by secure video call. Clients in Cardiff and across Wales receive exactly the same specialist assessment as anyone else we support.
I am a prop trying to get bigger. How do you approach that?
First we review what you eat now, how hard you train and how well you recover. From there we build a steady increase in energy and protein, spread across the day. The aim is strength and size that still let you scrummage, tackle and get around the pitch.
How should I fuel a long, hilly ride?
Climbing burns through carbohydrate, so most riders do better eating and drinking regularly from early in the ride rather than waiting until they feel hungry. We help you plan timings and choose foods you can manage on the bike.
What if I have a health condition as well as training goals?
Our dietitians take your medical history into account, including conditions such as IBS. Where it is helpful, we may suggest keeping your GP informed alongside your nutrition care.
Can my private medical insurance pay for sessions?
If your policy includes dietetic care, it may. We accept Bupa UK, AXA, Vitality, Aviva, WPA, Healix and Cigna UK subject to pre-authorisation, and your insurer can confirm the details of your cover.
