Online sports dietitian for student-athletes and clients in Cambridge

Specialist sports nutrition from a team led by Cambridge University's Lead Sports Dietitian, delivered online for student-athletes, rowers, runners and active professionals in Cambridge.

Experience with Cambridge athletes

Our founder, Jenaed Ruddock, has been Lead Sports Dietitian for Cambridge University since September 2022, providing education, webinars and 1:1 consultations for scholarship and UCAPP athletes. That work gives us a detailed understanding of what it takes to train seriously while studying in an intense academic environment.

Cambridge athletes often face very early sessions, heavy training volumes, short terms and exam periods that squeeze time for shopping and cooking. Working professionals in the city's science and technology sectors face similar pressures. We build fuelling plans that hold up under those conditions, with straightforward meals, sensible snacks and recovery strategies that fit around lectures, labs and the working day.

Private consultations with Nutrition & Co are separate from the university programme and are open to anyone. All sessions are online by secure video call, so you can join from college, home or work. Follow-ups let us adapt your plan between term and vacation, training and competition.

How we can help

Evidence-based support for students, researchers, staff and local athletes.

Fuelling for early sessions

What to eat before, during and after dawn training, including options when you have no appetite first thing.

  • Quick pre-session snacks
  • Recovery before a 9am lecture
  • Fuelling two sessions in one day

High-volume endurance training

Support for rowing, running, cycling and triathlon, where high training loads make it easy to fall short on energy and carbohydrate.

Spotting and managing RED-S

Specialist assessment for athletes with persistent tiredness, menstrual changes, stress fractures or falling performance, with medical referral where needed.

Nutrition through exam periods

Practical ways to keep eating well and recovering when revision, deadlines and stress disrupt normal routines.

Eating disorders and body image in sport

Sensitive, specialist support for athletes whose relationship with food or body image is affecting health or training, alongside their wider care team.

Strength and muscle gain

Evidence-based support for muscle gain or body composition goals that keeps adequate fuelling at the centre.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same service as the university's athlete programme?

No. Jenaed's role with Cambridge University is a separate programme for eligible athletes. Private consultations with Nutrition & Co are open to anyone, whether or not you are part of the university.

Can I see you in person in Cambridge?

No. All our consultations are online by secure video call, so you can join from college, home or the office without travelling.

I train at dawn and struggle to eat beforehand. What can I do?

This is very common. We can suggest small, easy-to-digest options and drinks before early sessions, and plan a proper recovery meal afterwards so you are not under-fuelled for the rest of the day.

Can you help with RED-S?

Yes. Several of our practitioners specialise in RED-S and low energy availability. We assess your intake, training and symptoms, and recommend medical assessment where there may be hormonal or bone-health concerns.

Does private medical insurance cover consultations?

Many plans include dietetic care. We accept Bupa UK, AXA, Vitality, Aviva, WPA, Healix and Cigna UK, subject to policy terms and pre-authorisation, so it is worth confirming with your provider before your first session.
